Synectics Solutions are delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Sands to the new role of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Steve will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise strategy for security. The role will ensure all company and client information assets as well as technologies are protected.

This is a new role within Synectics Solutions which recognises the continued growth and maturity of the company, and the critical part that information security and data governance plays in the services we provide to our customers in the UK and worldwide.

Steve has an extensive background in information security, IT management and data protection. For the last 6 years Steve has worked as Head of Security & Compliance here at Synectics Solutions. He is a full member of several professional information security bodies including; M.Inst.ISP, MBCS, ISSA, and ISACA. He is also a serving committee member of the BCS Information Security Specialist Group for the last three years as well as being a qualified ISO27001 Lead Auditor and Data Protection Practitioner (PC.dp).

In additional to the new CISO duties, Steve will retain his current responsibilities as the Synectics Data Protection Officer (DPO), an area which is expected to be of significant interest as the EU now begins the transition to the recently adopted General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

HR Director, Kate Beardmore, commented “The creation of this new role improves Synectics security strategy, as well as ensuring there is a more formal change management process in place for our security policy through transition, operation, audit and compliance. I am thrilled that Steve will be taking on this important and dynamic role.”

Commenting on his new role at Synectics Steve said, “Information security and privacy have never had such focus whether that be in the UK, across Europe, or indeed globally. Our software and services now operate in around 20 jurisdictions across three continents. I’m absolutely delighted to take on the role of CISO to lead and promote our security and privacy policy for these crucial areas.”
