Synectics Solutions Ltd has been awarded a 2-year contract by the Single Source Regulation Office (SSRO) to deliver the Defence Contracts and Analysis Reporting System (DefCARS2).
The SSRO was established by the Defence Reform Act 2014 as an independent regulator of UK non-competitive defence contracts. Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, the SSRO’s statutory aim is to ensure that good value for money is obtained for the UK taxpayer in expenditure on qualifying defence contracts and that single source defence contractors are paid a fair and reasonable price.
The SSRO is designed to be the independent expert of single source procurement and the custodian of the single source procurement framework. The Ministry of Defence spends approximately £8.3 billion via single source procurement each year. Ian McPherson OBE, at the SSRO commented: “We needed to partner with an organisation that held the relevant public sector experience and pedigree in the delivery of robust security intensive data solutions. Synectics Solutions, will enable defence contractors to report and store information whilst providing a secure platform for the SSRO and the Ministry of Defence to monitor, manage, analyse and report on spend as defined in the Defence and Reform Act. Following a challenging procurement process, we identified Synectics Solutions as our preferred partner to meet such a challenge.”
Mark Sanders, Head of Public Sector Services at Synectics Solutions said: “Synectics Solutions has been working with the various UK Government departments to help combat fraud for over 20 years. Today, we are delighted to have been selected to work in partnership with another major central government department on such an important defence initiative. We are very excited by this challenge and look forward to working in partnership with the SSRO and Ministry of Defence to deliver the Defence Contracts and Analysis Reporting System”.
