Highly successful Public Sector initiative shortlisted for award

One of the UK's leading fraud detection and prevention technology firms has been shortlisted for a prestigious Government Counter Fraud award for its work with local authorities.

Synectics Solutions, and its partnership with the Cabinet Office, as part of the National Fraud Initiative (NFI) is nominated in the Outstanding Collaboration category and will go up against competition from across the UK at the high profile awards ceremony in London this month.

Nearly 500 local authorities submit data to Synectics every two years, which is matched and interrogated against sophisticated database software, identifying where fraudulent or error payments have potentially been made.

Currently in its 21st year, the NFI is recognised as vital in the Cabinet Office’s fight to protect the public purse. So far it’s helped to identify and save over £1.4billion and thanks to new innovations, the initiative has expanded its capability to deliver new tools which are helping to empower local authorities to take a more preventative approach to fraud both now and in the future.

It is this commitment and innovation that has led to the shortlisting and Louise Williams, Public Sector Product Manager, said winning the award would truly recognise the true value of the NFI as a shining example of a world-class public and private sector initiative.

The second annual Government Counter Fraud Awards will recognise exceptional achievement and innovation in fighting fraud and corruption in the public sector. They showcase the skills and professionalism of the individuals and teams working to protect public funds.

The final awards will be made at the iconic Kia Oval cricket ground in London on 21 September 2017.
